UNIBO Motorsport is an ambitious university project that was born in 2009 from only 10 students and their desire to get involved in the world of Motorsport.
Today, the team has more than 250 students who are dedicated to the construction of three different prototypes: an Electric motorcycle, an Electric car, and a Combustion car, with passion, spirit of sacrifice, and enthusiasm.
In the past year, Unibo Motorsport has stood out in various competitions and achieved excellent results. To name a few, they secured first place in Moto Engineering Italy at Imola and in Formula Student Spain.
After a successful racing season, the team decided to focus their attention on small details to further improve the efficiency of the vehicle in all areas. One of these details includes designing a pressure sensor required to measure the air pressure inside the intake manifold of the engine.
To achieve our goals, we need excellent materials, and that’s why we found Eurocircuits, which has exceeded our expectations! Some of the components they have provided include:
- Powerbox HV+: this board is built to accommodate 5 m8 press-fits and we use it to connect the high energy accumulator to our three-phase motor controllers.
- Powerbox HV-: this board is built to accommodate 4 pressfit m8 and 1 pressfit m6 and we use it to connect the high energy accumulator to our three-phase motor controllers.
- Gateway: this PCB is the backbone of a CAN gateway designed to interconnect CANbus networks working with different settings. -Steering wheel dash: this year, for the very first time, our prototype will have a dashboard included in the steering wheel. It was therefore essential to design and build a completely new and different PCB.
- Cockpit Lights: the Formula SAE rules mandate a circuit board that can easily show critical errors that may occur during dynamic events. This board can drive 4 LEDs with an integrated self-test useful to check LEDs health.
- TSAL Led: these boards are used as an indicator device controlled by the TSAL logic board, a rule mandatory circuit board. Rules mandates to be able to indicate whether high voltage is ON or OFF thanks to a light indication, red flashing and green.
